i wish i could take credit for the recipe... but i totally didn't come up with it. which is for the better, because it would probably taste like crap.

anyways.

for those of you who've been wanting the recipe for homemade fruit roll.ups... go here for some deliciousness.

i can tell you that i will never buy them from the store ever again.

while it does take ALL day to make... they are totally worth it.

and some advice i'd give is to MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE THEM IN THE OVEN FOR THE CORRECT AMMOUNT OF TIME! i didn't... and only half of one of my pans worked out.

i had debated going to the d.i. the morning i got this.

SO glad i went that morning though.

because i found this beauty...

it was priced at $60 and the only thing wrong with it is a small crack in the right top corner. (you can kind of see it in the pic).

other than that. PERFECT condition.

the drawers are lined with a black velvet too. and it didn't smell funny. like some furniture does when you buy it at the d.i.

(you all know what i'm talking about... right?)

so... i was curious to know how much the console with really worth.

i googled it and i found that it actually retails for $529.

so... i felt incredibly happy with my purchase.

look at how cute it looks in my living room now.

funny story...

hubby was not happy that i made another furniture purchase when i told him i needed his help getting it out of the car.

until he saw it.

he says it's the only good thing i've EVER bought from the d.i.

how dare he say such things?! (ha ha ha).

i've been in and out and around and about for the last month. and i have to say it's been good to step away from the computer for a bit. i need to do it more often. i think it's a good thing to do every once in a while.

we (the little miss & i) have started to get back to hittin' up the d.i.

i'm SO glad i went today.

camera talk

my old camera that i carry around in my purse has pretty much died on me. in order to use it... i have to pull the lense out, do a slight twist to the right and hold while pushing the button. and it can only be zoomed out at a certain distance.

nice.

(don't get me wrong. it's been a good little camera. we bought at the end of 2006. it's gone on some amazing adventures with us. and it's done a fine job of capturing our life's little moments. and tiny enough to put into my purse. and for that... i've been thankful.)

but now... i've been doing some research and my big debate is this:

* just getting another $100 - $200 camera that i know will be non.functioning in then next 2-3 years.

or...

* splurging and getting me a rebel xsi!

now i've done my pros & cons lists and i've been doing some research of my own.

but i want to know the opinion of those of you who own a rebel.

what model do you have? lenses? what are your pros & cons? and any other tid.bits you want to give me would be MUCH appreciated.

from doing my research... the only con i hear is that nobody can put it down. :)

i've said this before and i'll say it again... i wish i could sew!

i wish i would've listened to my mom when she tried to teach a group of my friends {in sewing 4.H} to sew & make things. we were small. all i remember is modeling our awesome clothing {that i'm sure my mom ended up sewing for me} in our small town county fair. i should dig those pics up. you'd all love it!

now that i am big... i wish i could sew any & everything.

i'm starting out slow and trying to learn the basics of sewing. practice makes perfect. and i've been learning a lot while making little projects.

i tackled 3 sewing projects i've been wanting to do today.

i'm on a roll folks.

here are a couple of my pillow projects.

remember... i'm just a beginner.

i am obsessed with mustard yellow & black lately. so it made sense to do a pillow of the two colors.

miss t had to pose with the finished work. she kept telling me.. "good girl mommy."

i've been eyeing this sewing basket for so long now. honestly... like 2 months.

i just couldn't bring myself to pay $50 for it though! {seriously. 50 bones! it's not even worth that!}

well... to my luck... i made a trip to hancock fabrics this morning and see the big 50% off sewing baskets sign and i about peed my pants.

it must have been meant for me, because nobody had bought it yet.

i have so many projects i want to do. maybe this will get me motivated to start & finish them.

the candle was a little too blah for me. so i added some scrap damask paper i had and taped that sucker to the candle. i need to do that with all of my ugly candles now.

this has been a LONG work in progress for me.

i wanted to give her a room where it wasn't too baby & not too adult.

it's the right mix. and it's something she can grow into.

i totally wish i had this room when i was little!

but back then... the mauve, teal & floral print was hip. {anyone remember?}

i love the outcome so far.

miss t loves it too. she's always saying... "mom... this is tay's big girl room!" "it's bootiful."

it's still not pickin' up at the d.i. which i'm really bummed about.

i need something to do to get me to stop thinking about how much i wish it were spring.

or summer for that matter.

i have found a few things that i'm way excited to transform.

like... these UGLY who knows what, gold things.

but i have a vision.

these may make up for my loss of that sweet lamp i broke.

i actually saw these yesterday when i went to the d.i. and hand them in my cart and debated if i should buy them or not.

i don't know why i ever do that. because most of the time... i decide later {if i didn't buy whatever it was} that i want it and usally it's never there if you go back. forever gone.

i got lucky this morning because i found them BOTH. right where i left them.

what a crappy way to start your friday morning.

{FRIDAY! of all days!}

let me just tell you that i've HAD it with realtors and trying to get our house sold!!!

when they call, they either call an hour before they want to come and then i'm running around frantic, trying to make my house look decent. it's so freakin' hard to keep my house clean 24/7 with a little miss running around.

or... they will schedule an apt. and they usally say... "we'll be there between 5-6."

so i leave for an hour. usually i have things to do so it doesn't matter.

yesterday i got a call from the same realtor that didn't show up last saturday. i'm thinkin'... you better make it this time sucker because he wanted to come this morning between 9-10.

now i know that's not early... but it's still early enough that i have to get my child fed, dressed, me dressed, house spotless, hurry & vacuum, put away disgusting dishes that are left in the sink. blah. blah. blah. all before 9.

so... i'm thinking this'll be fine because i can make a trip to the d.i. while the realtor is showing my house. i usually spend an hour there and that'll be enough time for the realtor to show my house and they'll be done when i get back.

by the way... {this adds to my story} i found this way cute, big, tall, curvey, detailed old lamp. at the top it's flat and it's obvious to me that it won't work as a lamp... but i get this great idea to turn it into a tall candlestick holder. like a big tall one. it works perfect for it and all i have to do is cut the cord out and give it a paint job.

i get back a little early... maybe 20 minutes. i take a look in my house... realize that nobody has showed up yet... and i'm peeved. i put my stuff in the garage... and give the freakin' guy 20 more minutes to redeem himself.

i put miss t back in the car... without shoes... and throw her in the front seat and we drive around our subdivison for 20 minutes. BORING! {plus i'm tired. haven't showered yet & i have a grumpy girl}.

come back and obviously the guy never showed up! i'm more than frustrated and angry. throw miss t on my hip {she doesn't have shoes on}, grab my beautiful lamp i'm going to fix up and my bag of other goodies in my other hand and then... DUN. DUN. DUN...

the little miss starts to fall off my hip. i do one of those mommy hip thrusts to thow my child back on my hip until we make it inside the house and in slow motion... there. goes. my. lamp.

shattered. to lots of pieces.

i cried.

i'm mad.

stupid realtors. stupid lamp that had to break.

stupid friday morning!

i want that cute lamp back.

and now i'm off to chew out that stupid realtor!

i don't know about you guys, but i'm ready for the start of a new year.

i LOVE to organize & clean & clear away. i've bought cute notebooks, calendars & organizing stuff so that i can start out the new year with a good start.

i'm making lists like crazy. i love making lists!

getting all kinds of new goals i want to accomplish on paper and in my head. i AM going to be better this year. a little better at a lot of things, i hope. {being a mom. a wife. a daughter. a sister. a friend.}

i'm excited to see what a new year brings to our little home. {i know what i'd like it to bring.}

this past year was a good one. i think it's safe to say it's been the best year of my married life so far.

{happy anniversary to me! 5 years today! woot! woot!}

it's been a busy december. i've liked it. but i wish it could have gone slower. it felt like it flew on by without me being able to take it all in. the whole past year for that matter.

but like i said... i'm ready.

this morning when i woke up... my blackberry app told me it was -20 degrees! that's just a health hazzard!

i remember being in school and wanting it to get so cold so school would be cancelled. {and it happened more often than not growing up in the arctic tundra of teton valley.}

mom & sister had no school today because of the freezing coldness!

anyways... i was just taking a looksie at the old navy website because i heard they had cute boots. and i've been on a hunt for the perfect cute boot. {didn't find any i liked on there}.

and i'd do so many things different the next time around.

but all in all... i love it. and it was fairly easy & cheap!

pointers:

* make sure you have the thinnest of wires or hangers! trust me when i say it'll make a difference!
* hot glue those ornament tops on BEFORE you start putting them on.

i've had a few of you ask about what i've sewn since i got my new machine.

i haven't done much. but i want to do more.

my mom & i made a table runner and i've done a few yw projects with it too.

here's my most recent sewing project i've done.

i LOVE this fabric. {my table runner is made out of the same material}.

i had leftovers... so i made this pillow case.

i still have to sew the side up... but i think i may add some ruffles or some cute trim or something.

i see so many cute things to sew. and i say to myself... "i wanna sew that!" and then i think i get overwhelmed. there are so many of you that are so good at sewing.

besides the fact that i get to find sweet things at the d.i., i also love the friendships i've made there too.

the friendships with the regulars. the ones who come at 9:45 a.m. to wait for the doors to open at 10. the ones who always greet us with the nicest hello's and how are you's. the same cute people that love to see taylin and love to see us there.

there are 2 old grandpa's in particular that i love. they're so funny & cute.

here's the conversations i had with each of them today...

me: hey gene! how are you?!

gene: oh i'm doing good! how are you?

me: i'm doing great! have you found anything good yet?

gene: no. but it looks like you have. are you going to hang those up on your house?

{i had a pair of shutters in my cart. so i can make those cute card/paper holders out of 'em.}

me: oh no. i'm going to paint them and then get clips so i can put cards on them or cute pictures and stuff on them.

gene: {gives me the blankest face with a furrowed brow}. hmm... well all be damn!

i couldn't help but smile really big and giggle to myself. it was so funny to me because he was so confused at why i'd want to do that.

here's my other conversation...

tom: how are you two ladies doing?

me: we're doing really good. how 'bout you?

tom: oh good. look what i found today. it's a french fry cutter. you can't find these anymore. especially in this good of shape.

{it was a very vintage metal cutter that you put the potato in and it cut it into french fries. it seriously was pretty neat. i would've had no idea what it was had he not showed it to me.}

me: that's way cool! are you going to make fries with it?

tom: oh no. i have this one wall in my home that has all kinds of old stuff on it. i'm going to set it by this old old stove that my wife found and loved. i'll set it on top of it.

{he proceeded to tell me all of these cool things that he & his wife had from the old days and how they loved to go shopping for old vintage stuff too.}

me: i bet you have some neat stuff at your house. i like vintage things. i'm sure i'd love all of the fun things you guys have.

tom: you know... my wife passed away 5 years ago. i miss her. back when i was courting her i'd always have to wait for her on this wood box. i always wanted a wood box and my wife found one for me after we were courting & married.

me: i'm so sorry to hear that she'd passed away tom. i bet she was a neat lady.

tom: i miss her. and you know... if i could tell all of the men... i'd let them know how they should appreciate their wives and all that they do. they should tell them you love them. they're special people you know. and you just never know when they'll leave.

i want a love like that when i'm old. it brought tears to my eyes.

i love that he was {courting} her. and that he loved her so much.

i'm pretty sure those 2 conversations made my whole week.

it's been a sa.weet week of thrifting! {and i still have tomorrow too!}

i get all giddy and excited! it's nuts. i know. but it's such a thrill! i love it!

and i feel like i'm stealing everything because of the good deals i got.

isn't she fancy?! i love her skinny self and those curvey legs. and it matched my nightstand/dresser i got last week. i haven't finished painting it yet... but it'll be cute!

i saw a diy craft with these that i'm wanting to make. i got all of these in a bag for {$1}.

the wire basket on the top shelf i got at the beginning of the summer for
{$1.50}.

my jaw literally dropped when i saw these. i did a fast run/walk to them. hoping that nobody would see what i was running for and steal them from me. {i'm crazy. i know. you become crazy when you become a thrifter.} the picture doesn't really do them justice. they're TALL! and chunky. and i love them. didn't even have to paint them.

i don't know about you... but i love me a good deal! especially when it's crazy cute and has a good price tag on it!

i've been wanting to do this for a long time now. {just haven't quite had the guts to take the leap.}

i'm always shopping. {imagine that!} and i'm always trying to find cute & fashionable things for a reasonable price. most of the time i'm out hitting up 10 stores trying to decide what i like best and what price tag is the best. {do you do this?} and then sometimes i come home after a LONG day of finding nothing.

i wanted sassarella boutique to be a place where you can get stylish and fancy and have all of the great prices all in one place.

it's still a work in progress and i'm still working on getting more items in. {home decor. apparel. bags & purses. jewelry. hats.}

that's how i felt how today went. how this week went.

i had a lot on my to.do list and i got quite a lot of it accomplished. {the real to.do stuff. like... laundry, cleaning, bills, etc. not like... blogging and wasting time on the computer or watching my dvr shows.} it feels good to cross things off of my lists.

i didn't, however, get to blog about things i really wanted to share. {pumpkin patch. thursday thrifties. and life in general.}

maybe next week.

we have a long but fun day planned for tomorrow. it'll be a good day.

i love the gospel. i know it's true!
i love to thrift. it's also very addicting. one of my most favorite addictions.
i love to shop.
i need to run & tan tonight. i'm looking forward to my date with the treadmill & tanning bed.
i make lists. lots of them.
and i love to organize.
i can't sleep without a part of my body touching my hubby's body. {like my leg on his. or my arm on his chest.} it's comforting.
the sound of rain on the roof makes me smile.
and i love the quietness of a snowfall.
i think a lot. and probably too much for that matter.
i also worry about things that i can't control.
i always wear my seatbelt when i'm driving. always.
i have to be showered and ready for the day before 11 a.m.
i love to find new blogs. inspiring ones. and pretty ones.
i don't blog as often as i'd like to.
i think i have bad circulation in my hands and feet. they're always cold.
i should be doing other things at the moment. like laundry. and some cleaning.
i look forward to 5:30 when my hubby gets home.
i love my little girls laugh.
i have meetings that i don't want to go to.
i want to be better.
i really want a nice camera. and expensive one. with a few lenses to go with it. so i can take pictures of all of the things i love and little things that make happy.

we decided to take a little family trip up north for the weekend. we hit up missoula, mt. coeur d'alene, id & spokane, wa. so so pretty! we left saturday morning and got back late last night. i now need a vacation from my vacation.

it's so pretty in northern idaho and adam & i are now talking about someday moving up there. we love it! if you've never been up that way... i suggest you take a drive sometime! you won't regret it.

i do regret not taking enough pictures. they're all mentally taken in my head... but i wish i had them on my camera so i could show you.

i had lots i needed to do today. a crazy day to say the least. doesn't it seem like it's always the most crazy when you return from a trip? all i wanted to do today was sleep & unpack. i did neither of those.

i do have fun posts for you soon. it's just a matter of me getting more energy to finally post about them. :)

i don't post much about family or tay on here anymore. because honestly... it scares me to know who's looking at {MY} family. especially with tay. so these are far and few between.

but i'm a little sad to see that my little baby girl isn't quite so little or baby anymore.

miss zee is getting so big.

even sleeps in her big girl bed now! {yay!} slept in it all last night, {with one interuption for "bippy" sippy at 3:30 a.m. but went right back to sleep} and then slept till 8:30! i know that doesn't sound like anything special... but trust me when i say it's been ca.razy around here with her at nights!

and when i say crazy... i really mean hell.

she's just growing a lot lately. i cleaned out her closet and was going through clothes to see what fit & didn't and i think i boxed up more than half of her clothes. {time for more shopping for cute girl clothes at target & old navy!!!}

she makes me absolutely melt when she randomly says through out the day... "momma... uvv ooo." {love you}.

sometimes i don't even have to ask for a smack.a.roo. she just gives me a big wet juicy one all by herself! ♥ it!

she loves puzzles & books.

loves to dress up!!! & get her toes painted.

loves church & nursery.

and her best friend paige. {the cutest little girls ever!}

i just want to take this all in and never forget it! there are moments in my day where i just have to stop what i'm doing completely and just hold and love & play with her. and as much as there are hard times with this sassy little 2 year old... i'd never give it up for anything!

i love being a mom. and i love my healthy, adventurous, sassy little tay!

i thought about getting political and telling you what i saw on the {liberal today & good morning america} news this morning while waiting to see the local weather.

but... i'd rather not stir the pot and keep this on what today should really be about.

i'm thankful for those who fight for our freedoms here in the good u.s. of a!

the events that happened on 9/11 will never be forgotten. and my heart goes out to all who lost loved ones and lost lives.

i swear the days are flying by around here. and i've got lots on my brain.

brace yourselves.

do you have those days? where you wake up and it's a pure get.up.and.sprint from the time your feet touch the floor to the time they nestle under your covers. i feel like the past few handful of days have been like that for me.

good things are happenin' around here. i feel happy about lots of things. life is good to me and i'm thankful for such a wonderful and supportive husband. and for a growing little healthy girl who i absolutely love to pieces! {although she makes me feel like i'm going mental somedays.}

granted... not all days around here are considered happy & great. but i choose to make the best out of what i've been given. and yes... there are days when i just want to dig a hole, cut all forms of communication off and cry and scream to let my frustrations go. i'm human. and i hope that i remember the low's and hard times in my life. but really... when i take a step back and try to look at my life in a different perspective, i can't really complain.

and i like being busy. it's good for me to be busy. it makes me appreciate those few moment i get to be lazy. i feel so much more productive and happy when i'm busy. busy is good. {for the most part.}

can i get a holla to all of my new blog followers too! yay! i love blurking and finding new blog gems. but it's just as exciting to get others blurking my way too! you guys make my day!

i really do have more thrifites i can't wait to show you! thrifting for me is so stikin' exciting!

nothing too exciting going on around here.

but yet... it still seems like we're always busy.

does anyone else feel that fall crispness in the air? especially at nights? as much as i LOVE fall, i'm just not ready for it yet. i'll take as much sun & heat as i can possibly get before the fall rolls on it. but i love yummy fall smelly candles and baked goods. yum. can't you smell 'em now?

played around with my mamacita & sister the past couple of days. i love love love them! by far the most amazing women ever! we always have fun together. and we shop.

littls miss t is quite the sassy pants. and is very girly. always dancing around on her toes. checkin' herself out in the mirror. wearing her little tutu skirt to the d.i. & walmart. getting her toes painted. makes me just want to eat her up. i love her personality.

i still have pics from the buxton reunion. fun times! maybe you'll get to see them soon.

i've got some more thrifties for you too! can't wait to show them to you!

we're selling our house.

A few of my sweet finds!

I LOVE vintage towells. They don't make 'em like they used to. I adore the patterns & colors! I head straight for the towell section to search for these beauties. I think I got all of these for $3. What?!

$5. Couldn't pass it up. I still need to clean it up. Maybe paint it? What do you think?

I don't think this is vintage, but it looks like it could be. It now houses Tay's barbies & dolls. Love it! Only $1.50!

This was a super ugly brown wood color. I hated it, but loved the design. Nothing that a little black spray paint can't do! A sweet steal at $2.

I wish I would've taken a picture of the before. It was an ugly blue spackled D. Black spray paint works wonders! I feel like I stole it for only $1! {It had a sticker on it from Roberts with a price of $15!}

i am and addict d.i./craigslist/thrift store shopper. seriously.

i've gotten so bad that i make sure miss t & i are ready to go by 9:50 so we can make it to the d.i. when it opens.

i use to go a couple of days a week. now i go almost every stinkin' day.

and it's gotten to the point that i feel like if i didn't get there early enough, i feel like i missed out on something sweet that someone stole from me.

and you have to be careful with thrift shoppers too. they're right out mean. you gotta watch your cart like a hawk and if you see something you like... just grab it and put it in your cart before someone snatches it right out in front of your face. they don't care if you're looking at it and debating whether to get it or not.

it's becoming quite the addiction these days.

plus i like the fact that i'm taking someone else's old stuff and making it new!

i'm going to start posting my thrifty finds so you can see how awesome it is to second hand shop!

We had a more than lovely 4th weekend!

* Spent lots of time with family.
* Ate more than I should have. But boy was it all good!
* The sun was shining!
* Miss T was a good little girl.
* Played cards with Dad, {Sheesha} Neesh & G.ma B. {Played for the champion of the universe!} Aren't these cards so cute! I forgot how much I love them! And they were lucky too!

How incredibly thankful and blessed I am for the amazing men in my life!

I love this guy more than I can tell you!

He loves me unconditionally.
He kills spiders for me.
He works hard for our little family and so that I can be a stay at home mom/wife and make our home a happy place to be.
He makes me laugh.
I think he's pretty dang good lookin'!
He melts my heart when I see him play with Taylin. He's an amazing daddy!
He's an amazing husband too!

little family weekend

A few weekends ago... we randomly decided to get packed up and head on down to Utah for the weekend.

I had never been to the Hogle Zoo and it had been a while since Adam had been. And I'd been hearing so much about The Living Planet, {I loved The Living Planet! It totally rocks!}, that we just decided to make a weekend out of it.

We also visited... This Is The Place monument. It was so neat and you could totally feel the Spirit as you looked out in the valley. {Read about it here!}

It was fun to have a little family vacation together. We stayed the night at the Hilton, swam, ate, played, saw LOTS of animals of all sorts, shopped and had a fun time together!

I love the stage that Taylin is in. {For the most part. She does have her moments.} Lately... all she wants to do is dress herself and wear her swimming suit. {Don't blame the girl. I could live in mine!}

She loves getting her toes painted. Putting on lotion. And shopping & wearing shoes! {A girl after my own heart.}

She came to me holding a headband and wanted me to put in on her just like mine.

we ♥ the sun & health

I've been nursing back my little miss to her normal health. She was puking with a high fever for a couple of days. I hate seeing her like that. I'd give anything to be sick than to watch her go through the pain and hurt. I think within the last 2 weeks we've all had some sort of sickness. It sure makes me realize how thankful I am for healthy bodies!

We're back to normal health now! {Hallelujah!}

The little miss and I are taking every possible moment of catching rays of sun.

. Lots of pool time.
. Zoo trips.
. Park swinging/sliding & running in the grass.
. Eating lots of snow cones & otter pops.

Oh it makes me happy to see the sun come out and play. And I don't even mind a day in between that it rains hard and gives us a little lightening and thunder show. {At least it's not snowing!}

I loved Natalie last year when she auditioned and wanted her to get picked over her friend Katie. {Those who watch know the story and what happened.}

I have no words to describe how much I LOVE . LOVE . LOVED her audition from last Thursday! I downloaded that song and I think I listen to it on repeat ALL day long. And since I had it on DVR, I've been watching it over and over and over again.

I wish I could dance like her. I think I have it all memorized now.

Her every move gives me chills.

I'm totally hoping she makes it to the end this year. She's my favorite so far.
